An alert was issued at around 4:45 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 16 when officers were called to the area of Georgia Avenue and East West Highway in Silver Spring to probe a reported death when the man's body was located.
During the investigation, police announced that the Major Crimes Division was called in to investigate the death in the 8000 block of Georgia Avenue as a homicide.
Roadways in the area remained closed as detectives continued to investigate the incident.
The body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore to determine the exact cause and manner of death.
More details are expected to be released.
